Re: Our Valley Water – A San Joaquin Valley Regional Water Plan
As your Congressional Representatives of this region we are writing to ask you to join us in creating a
San Joaquin Valley Regional Water Plan. You can help by filling out a survey of your water needs and projects.
As the fastest growing region in the state, the San Joaquin Valley needs to have a vision for its water future. We must work together - from San Joaquin County in the North to Kern County in the South – to make sure we have the water needed to:
•
Sustain our Valley's lifestyle
•
Support regional economic growth
•
Retain a world-class agricultural economy
•
Maintain a reliable, high-quality urban water supply
•
Protect and enhance our local environment.
Our goal is to find out what projects are the most important to our region so that we can do a better job obtaining funding for key regional projects. We have pulled together water experts throughout the region to develop a plan aimed at providing water sustainability, supporting population growth and protecting and enhancing the environment. These groups are organized by four water-related needs within the region:
•
Water Supply
•
Water Quality
•
Flood Control, and
•
Environmental Restoration/Enhancement
These working groups have created a survey to help find out greater details about the water needs in our region. This work is being coordinated by the California Water Institute at California State University, Fresno.
Now we need your help in responding to a survey. Please visit www.californiawater.org fill out the survey informing us of your water needs and projects, both current and future, you are working on in the areas of water supply, water quality, flood control and environmental restoration. You can help us take a valuable first step in creating a future for water in our region.
Don’t be left out--- we need to know your needs in order to obtain increased funding for our region.
