Sorghum Production and Pump Efficiency in California
The Center for Irrigation Technology is hosting a seminar for farmers on sorghum production and pump efficiency in California. Speakers will present at different locations covering three counties in the Central Valley.
We have been growing sorghum on the Fresno State farm, and our intent is to explain the benefits of this highly versatile crop to local farmers.
This seminar will include experts talking on the history of sorghum, grain sorghum in California: Can it work and what are the challenges are, as well as go over a three year data report and research done on sorghum.
In addition, this seminar will include discussions on the APEP, Advanced Pumping Efficiency Program, which is an educational and incentive intended to improve over all pumping efficiency and encourage energy conservation in CA.
The APEP program helps to subsidize pump efficiency tests and gives an incentive for pump retrofit/replacement.
